Results of the competition “The Holocaust and the Greek Jews”

On Thursday 5th March 2020 the results of the competition “The Holocaust and the Greek Jews” were announced, according to the assessment of the relevant committee. The winners of the competition which is conducted by the General Secretariat for Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs in co-operation with the Jewish Museum of Greece, will take part in a special training programme organised by the Jewish Museum of Greece which includes an educational visit to the Auschwitz Museum (in the current school year, the educational visit will take place when conditions permit).

During school year 2019-2020, there were 111 valid entries from 46 schools of the Regional Directorates of Attica and Central Macedonia, Epirus, Crete, Peloponnese and Central Greece and particularly of the Secondary Education Directorates of A, B, C, D of Athens, Eastern and Western Attica, Piraeus, Eastern and Western Macedonia, Arta, Herkleion and Arcadia.

Five prizes will be awarded to the students of the 1st Day Vocational High School of Arta, the American Farm School, the Fryganiotis School, Moraitis School and the 9th General High School of Athens (names in random order). Additionally, 41 honourary awards will be awarded to 29 schools. Altogether, 120 First and Second class Senior High School students will take part in the training programme which will be completed with the debriefing meeting that will be held at the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs.
